Updated: Fostoria man arrested for assault, woman found beaten

FOSTORIA — A Fostoria man was arrested Wednesday morning after a woman was found badly beaten near a North Union Street business.
Travis L. Dauterman, 27, 1635 N. Union St., was charged with felonious assault and domestic violence.
Police Capt. Dan Dell said police responded to the 1600 block of North Union Street at 6:35 a.m. Wednesday after an employee of a business there found the woman severely beaten and calling out for help.
The woman was taken to ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital by Fostoria EMS. She was later taken to a trauma center in Toledo. Police are not releasing her name.
After speaking with the victim, Dell said, officers learned the assault occurred inside Dauterman’s North Union Street home. Following a lengthy standoff, Dauterman was taken into custody at about 8:04 a.m. Dauterman is being held at the Seneca County jail.
