Findlay veteran receives overdue medals

U. S. Sen. Sherrod Brown stopped in Findlay today to honor Army veteran James Goshe.

Goshe, a Findlay resident and Iraq war veteran, was presented with 12 medals and ribbons at the Hancock County Veterans Service office in Findlay.

“It’s like closing the final chapter,” Goshe said.

It took about nine years for Goshe to receive his medals, which included the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terror Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, Marksman Badge with Rifle and Grenade Clasps, and Army Lapel Button.

Brown said records mishaps often result in delays in awarding veterans the medals they deserve.

“This an honor,” Brown said about the chance to present Goshe with his awards.

Courier reporter Max Filby will have more on Wednesday.
