Moody-Russo’s condition upgraded to serious at UTMC

TOLEDO — The University of Toledo Medical Center upgraded the condition of Nancy Moody-Russo to serious condition today.

Moody-Russo, 68, a clinical coordinator of the physician assistant program at the University of Findlay, was critically injured in a car accident Wednesday afternoon in Erie County.

Her husband, prominent Hancock County attorney Ralph Russo, died in the crash. Funeral arrangements for Russo are pending at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home.

According to the State Highway Patrol, the one-car accident happened at 1:01 p.m. on U.S. 6 near Northwest Road. The patrol said Russo was driving his 2007 Lexus sport utility vehicle when it went across the center line and off the side of the road. The vehicle hit a mailbox, a road sign and two trees.

The patrol said the investigation into the cause of the accident will most likely take weeks to complete, pending a coroner’s ruling on Russo’s cause of death.
