Sprague speaks about curtailing Ohio drug abuse

Ohio’s drug epidemic has required aggressive action to solve, state Rep. Robert Sprague told the Findlay Rotary Club today.

Sprague, R-Findlay, briefly outlined bills he introduced to tackle the problem of prescription painkiller and heroin abuse. His efforts include limiting minors from obtaining such prescriptions, and advocating for identification when obtaining narcotics.

Five Ohioans die per day of opioid-related overdose deaths, Sprague said.

“Our state is facing, really, a crisis,” he said.

Courier reporter Ryan Dunn will have more Tuesday.
