Carey bank robber sentenced to prison

UPPER SANDUSKY — A Carey man was sentenced today to three years in prison for robbing a village bank.

Chad E. Gossman, 38, had pleaded guilty in Wyandot County Common Pleas Court to robbing the First Citizens National Bank, 129 E. Findlay St.

On Jan. 14, Gossman entered the bank and demanded money from a teller before running away, according to police.

No one was hurt in the robbery, police said.

Judge Kathleen Aubry further ordered restitution of $140 and credited Gossman with 34 days served for the third-degree felony, said Prosecutor Jonathan Miller.

Miller deferred specific questions on the case to a Carey Police Department captain. The police official could not be reached for comment on Friday.
